Program Overview
- The Elmhurst Bears are excited to offer Girls Flag Football for athletes in the Elmhurst community.
-This program is designed to introduce, develop, and grow the game for girls in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment.
- Open to players of all skill levels — no prior experience required.
League Information
- Competes in the Chicagoland Pop Warner league
- Focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Opportunities to compete against other programs across the Chicagoland area
Location
- Practices held at York Commons
- Games played at various Chicagoland locations (league sites)
What Registration Includes
- Reversible game jersey (home/away)
- Access to well-maintained practice and game fields
- Certified and trained coaching staff
- Organized league schedule and competition
- Guaranteed playing opportunities for all athletes
Equipment Needed
- Soft-sided flag football helmet
- Mouthguard
- Cleats
Season Timeline
- Season Start: Early August
- Regular Season: Late August – October
- Playoffs - Last two weeks of October
Practices & Games
- Practices:
- 1–2 days per week
- Approximately 1–2 hours per session
Games
- One game per week (weekends)
- Season begins late August
- May include holiday weekend games
Team Formation
- Players are placed on teams based on:
- Age
- Skill level - Goal is to create balanced teams and positive competitive experiences
Coaching & Safety
- Coaches are trained and supported
- Emphasis on fundamentals, safety, and athlete development
- Focus on building confidence, leadership, and teamwork
